Established as a Registered Charity in 1953, the Trust was known for many years as The Friends of Ancient Staffordshire Churches. Since its formation much has been done to arrest the decay of the
county's churches but the urgent need to do more continues. We are all aware of the ever rising cost of upkeep on our own homes. Churches are not immune from this problem and suffer from the additional
difficulties and expense which result from the maintenance of fabric, often centuries old, which was created utilising long-forgotten skills and expertise.
The Trust is ecumenical and offers grants to churches and religious buildings of all denominations. We invite you to support our activities and become a member by completing the attached enrollment
form and sending it to our Honorary Treasurer with your remittance. Bankers order facilities are available.
As a member of the Trust you will receive copies of the Annual Report and Accounts and notices of all the Trust's meetings and activities. You will also be helping to protect and preserve an
important part of our English heritage.
The Trust operates locally rather than on a national basis. Thus, it is able to provide its members with a closer identity of participation with buildings in the county. Members have the
opportunity to take part in guided tours of churches throughout Staffordshire during the summer months and can also explore, at leisure, the surrounding areas of the church itself. The Trust also organises a range
of talks, concerts and other events. It is fortunate that owners of delightful gardens make them accessible to the public in support of the Trust and their local churches.
Please support the Trust. The more members there are the greater the assistance the Trust will be able to provide for the preservation of our heritage of church architecture. Generations
before us have ensured that we can enjoy that heritage - it is our duty to ensure that generations to come can also enjoy it.
If we ignore the past, we will be sacrificing the future.
